Friday, May 18

I meant to add this to the last post, but I didn't. Here is my lovely Alli Baba looking simply fabulous in the backyard. I, on the other hand, have given up anything resembling real clothes.
As for the suitcases...well, they all fit!

Cruising to some Adele
We arrived at Derek's childhood home in Zillah, Washington, in the early evening last night, but not without some unbelievable views along the way, especially at Kachess Lake. The stop was a perfect place to get out and stretch our legs and throw some rocks. (It was also a perfect place for Derek to throw me in a lake, but it's not far enough along in the trip to require such measures.)
The Cascade Mountains are pretty sweet too, as you can see Mount Adams in the distance below.

Snow caps...in May!
Derek grew up in a suburb of Yakima called Zillah on an orchard with apples, cherries, pears and grapes galore. Last time we visited was over Christmas when everything was frosted over, which offered incredible sights as well...

Among the cherry trees
Backyard tennis court (!!)
As you can see from the pictures below, May has brought out beautiful colors, along with much longer days. Coming from Hawai'i where the latest sunsets linger little past 7:30 pm, it's always nice to have light until 9 or so.

Same willow, only greener
And we're about to leave, so I gotta go. The plan is to camp in Missoula, Montana tonight!
